Harry Podmore has signed a contract extension with Kent that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2021 season.
The 24-year-old, who signed from Middlesex in April, had a successful first season where he was the club’s second leading wicket-taker in the promotion winning County Championship campaign.
He took 43 wickets at an average of 23.30 and scored 285 runs while featuring in every game.
Podmore also recorded career-best bowling figures of 6-64 against his former side at The Spitfire Ground, St. Lawrence and also scored the winning boundary against Worcestershire to take Kent to their first One Day Cup final appearance at Lord’s for 10 years.
Podmore said: “It’s been a dream first season for me at Kent, I’ve felt at home right from the word go.
“Everyone was very welcoming to me and I feel part of a special group here at The Spitfire Ground. This is just the beginning and we can build upon Kent Cricket’s rich history with this talented group of players that are hungry for success.”
Kent’s director of cricket, Paul Downton, said: “Harry has fitted into the squad brilliantly both on and off the pitch.
“His capabilities with both bat and ball are there for all to see, so we’re delighted that he’s signed an extension.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing him develop even further over the coming years – there are exciting times ahead for this group.”
