Kent have added former England international Jonathan Trott to their coaching staff.

The 37-year-old, who retired at the end of last season after playing his final game against Kent for Warwickshire, will link up with the county for the duration of the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.

Trott said: "It’s a great opportunity for me to join a team such as Kent for this competition.

“Their run to the final last year shows that the squad here is one of the strongest in one-day format and I’m looking forward to working with this talented group of players.”

Trott played 52 Tests for England, scoring 3,835 runs at an average of 44.08 with a best score of 226. He also featured in 68 One-Day Internationals and seven T20Is.

Trott has already been with the Kent squad, taking part in warm-up drills on the final day of their County Championship game at Warwickshire on Sunday.

Kent were beaten in last year's final at Lord's by Hampshire. The Spitfires start their 2019 campaign at home to Hampshire in a floodlight game from 1pm on Wednesday.
