THE Kent final of the national BBC Sport Kwik Cricket Tournament takes place at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, on Sunday.

The event will see 250 boys and girls from 24 primary schools, each of which has won its own district tournament, compete to become the Kent champions from an original entry of 500 teams.

Kent cricket development officer David Sear said: "It is a fantastic day when Kent's primary schools, young cricketers and their families take over the whole of the county cricket ground.

"District festival organisers report that the standard of play has improved and the number of participating schools continues to rise. This year nearly 5,000 boys and girls have taken part."
