YOUNG people aged eight to 14 have a

chance to improve their athletics skills

this summer when the Norwich Union Star

track initiative returns to Canterbury for a second year.

The week-long scheme runs from Monday

12 August to Friday 16 August at Canterbury

High School. It is being organised by

Canterbury City Council's Sport Development

Team and gives children the chance to take part in a wide range of games and activities

designed to improve their running, jumping

and throwing skills.

The emphasis is on fun and encourages

young people to take part in and enjoy

athletics. Last year, four athletes from the

district received medals for finishing in the national top three in their age groups in the Walking for Distance challenge.

The cost is £30. For more details telephone Claire Jones on 01227 862524.
