Teenager Bethany Davey is hoping to make it into the top 10 this weekend alongside Eminem, One Direction and Fatboy Slim when her single is released to raise money for this year’s Poppy Appeal.

The 15-year-old, who was born in Gravesend and now lives in Dartford, was among 1,000 hopefuls wanting to join the all-girl group the Poppy Girls.

All have dads serving in the Armed Forces.

Bethany has already met Prime Minister David Cameron, and is to perform in front of the Queen at the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday. The festival will also be broadcast on BBC One.

Last week, the Poppy Girls performed at RAF Northolt with The Saturdays, Union J and Britain’s Got Talent finalists Luminites.

Bethany’s father, Dean, 44, previously served as a regular soldier in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers, and is now serving in the Army Reserves with the 151 (London) Transport Regiment, Royal Logistics Corps.

The Dartford Girls’ Grammar School pupil, who also lives with mum Lisa, 44, and brother Kiran, 12, said: “I’ve been singing all my life.

“Up until the age of 11, I was always too shy to sing in front of family, let alone an audience.

“I think the reason I have been singing for so long isn’t just because music is a passion of mine, but also because I can’t see myself doing anything else but singing in the future.”

Joining Bethany in the Poppy Girls are Megan Adams, Florence Ransom, Alice Milburn and Charlotte Mellor.

Their debut single, The Call (No Need To Say Goodbye), is released on Sunday.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
