A carpenter involved in organising an illegal rave on an industrial unit - which caused £48,000 of damage - has been ordered to do 200 hours’ unpaid work.

The rave took place at an empty but recently renovated warehouse in Swanley.

Hundreds of revellers descended on the industrial unit for the illegal rave.

Judge Julian Smith told Germantas Citavicius: “This was massive criminal damage. If you think this was organising a party then the next time you will be locked up.

"This was someone’s property.”

Police had been called to reports of a large group of people causing a disturbance in Mark Way, Goldsel Road in the early hours of August 9, 2017.

Citavicius, of Hawthorn Avenue, Thornton Heath, had previous convictions for common assault, robbery and possessing cannabis.

Judge Smith told him he needed to exercise a bit of common sense.

“If you keep breaking into property and cause damage like that caused here, especially for commercial purposes, you will go to prison,” Judge Smith said.

In addition to the unpaid work Citavicius was also ordered to pay £450 costs at £50 a month.
