Two elderly people are in hospital with serious injuries after a collision near Kent's biggest shopping centre.

Officers were called to an A2 slip road in Bean on Good Friday when a blue Ford Fusion collided with a lamppost after leaving the coastbound carriageway at Bluewater.

It happened at the top of the slip road, at the roundabout, at about 3pm and the driver and his two passengers were injured.

The driver, a man in his 80s, and the front seat passenger, a woman in her 70s, sustained serious injuries and were taken to a London hospital, with a rear seat passenger, a woman in her 50s, sustaining minor injuries.

The police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances and are keen to hear from anyone that is yet to speak with officers.

They can be contacted on 01622 798538 and callers should quote reference DB/MW/078/17.
