Two lanes of a motorway were closed this afternoon after a car caught fire near Dartford.

Pictures from a passing motorist show flames spreading through the burning vehicle on the hard shoulder.

Lanes one and two were shut of the anticlockwise carriageway on the M25 between junction 3 for Swanley and junction 2 for Dartford.

All traffic was held until 1.30pm when the fire was extinguished.
