A car thief who took an Audi A4 valued at £25,000 from outside a home in Dartford has been jailed for three years.

Jacques Perrine, aged 40, of Canning Town, London, was found guilty of one count of burglary and admitted two charges of theft of a vehicle.

He was found not guilty of another burglary charge in Swanley during his trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

In January last year, Perrine stole a Honda Jazz from Aspen Close, Swanley and then the Audi in Hawley Road, Dartford just hours later.

Police say they hope his punishment will deter others from committing burglaries.

Detective Constable Mark Donovan, investigating officer at Kent Police, said: "Perrine went on a 24 hour crime spree, burgling a home and stealing two vehicles.

"Throughout the trial he continued to deny committing the burglary in Dartford, but he was found guilty by a jury.

"Perrine now faces the consequences of his actions with a three year prison sentence.

"I hope this result sends out a strong message to anyone else who thinks they can get away with committing burglary."
