Motorists faced huge delays this evening at the Dartford Tunnel due to a broken down vehicle.

The left-hand tunnel was forced to close while a car was recovered and was re-opened at 5.45pm.

However, long delays remained, with traffic queuing from the tunnel to junction 3, the Swanley Interchange, for the A20 and M20.

At its worst, motorists were advised to add 55 minutes to their journey times.

The delays have now cleared.
