Charity wins funds to start vital community work

A charity has received £10,000 to kick-start community work in two of Dartford’s most deprived areas.

The award from the Big Lottery Fund to Groundwork Kent & Medway will be followed by £1million for two projects in two of Dartford’s most deprived areas - the Tree estate and Town ward.

The charity hopes to spend the initial £10,000 on ensuring residents are consulted properly on what would benefit them.

Projects being considered by Groundwork include volunteer allotments, children’s clubs and lunches for the elderly.
