Charlton ended Huddersfield's 43-match record-breaking league run as they went seven points clear at the top of League 1 on Monday night.

First-half goals from Yann Kermorgant and Hogan Ephraim - on his Valley debut - earnt the Addicks their sixth successive League 1 victory and manager Chris Powell said: "We played a good side, who made us work hard but this was just another win."

Kermorgant opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when he headed home Danny Green's free-kick and it was 2-0 four minutes before the break when Ephraim - on loan from QPR - reacted quickest to score from the rebound after the Terriers' keeper Ian Bennett had come out to bravely save from Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The second half saw Kermorgant and substitute Danny Ward both hit the woodwork, while Addicks keeper Ben Hamer pushed a well-struck Jon Parkin effort onto the post but there was no way back for Town as Charlton finished well deserved winners.
