Charlton Athletic Women offer support to Swanley goalie Jordan Dawes who was diagnosed with cancer after stroke

A young footballer who was diagnosed with cancer after suffering a stroke has received more support from Charlton Athletic Football Club.

Jordan Dawes, from Swanley, an aspiring goalkeeper was left hospitalised after the incident and receive the cancer diagnosis earlier this week.

One of her coaches took to social media to urge people to support the 18-year-old in her recovery and it prompted Manchester United's Spanish stopper David De Gea to donate some gifts.

Now Charlton Athletic FC's women's team, who Jordan played in the youth set up for until she was 16, have taken to Twitter to give the goalie their support.

In the video manager Riteesh Mishra says: "Jordan, just on behalf of the Charlton ladies family hetre we just want to wish you a very speedy recovery.

"Just to let you know tha we're all thinking about you and if you need absolutely anything from us please get in touch. We just want to wish you the best of luck."

The whole changing room filled with more than 30 players and staff then shouted "get well soon Jordan."

The south-east London team joins a long line of players and celebrities to give their best wishes, including Chelsea star Fran Kirby, Birghton's Laura Rafferty, Manchester United head coach Casey Stoney and reality stars Dan Osborne and Jack Fincham.

A JustGiving page was set up in an attempt to raise £1,000 for Jordan and has since raised more than £4,000.

The North Kent College student also recently played in goal for Kent Football United.
