Queues near Dartford Crossing after accident on M25

An accident has resulted in congestion building up near on the approaches to the Dartford Crossing.

Highways England said a crash had happened on the M25 anticlockwise at junction 1A, with one lane closed.

it has caused tailbacks which were not expected to be completely clear until 4.45-5pm this evening, it said.

The junction is on the Kent side of the river and connects the A206 and the A226 which serves Dartford and Swanscombe.

Motorists have reported slow traffic stretching all the way back to the A2.

There are also delays on the A206 and the A282, although Highways England predicts these to have eased by 3pm.
