Olympic champion Lizzy Yarnold celebrated her May Day wedding by posting a picture of herself with her new husband on Twitter.

Lizzy, from West Kingsdown, met husband James Roche at the 2014 Winter Olympics, where he was the sled designer for the British Team.

The Olympic skeleton gold medallist grew up in West Kingsdown and went to Maidstone Grammar School for Girls.

She was the only Brit at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games to clinch a gold medal.

Lizzy tweeted a picture of her and husband James on yesterday night, with the caption: “Happy May Day everyone, hope the sun shone for you too. #Mr&Mrs”.

Fellow Olympic athlete, swimmer Rebecca Adlington took to social media to say congratulations to the happy couple.

She tweeted: “Huge congratulations Lizzy! Hope you had the most incredible day!”
