Heavy congestion remains around the Dartford Crossing this evening after hours of delays during the course of the day.

Since this afternoon, thousands of motorists have battled to get through.

And it it predicted that normal traffic conditions are only expected to return between 4.15am and 4.30am.

The Dartford Crossing has been hit by massive congestion throughout the day

Highways England says there have been no accidents.

The delays are purely down to the sheer volume of traffic approaching the crossing.

In a tweet at 8.30pm, the agency said data shows it was taking traffic 31 minutes longer than normal for this time on a Sunday evening to travel from Junction 3 at Swanley to the crossing.
