The fifth Dartford Festival of Light takes place Friday.

The first part will feature a schools’ parade between 6.30pm and 7pm, starting in the Orchards Shopping Centre and finishing at Central Park bandstand.

Last year's Festival of Light.

It will involve 11 schools, which have been preparing for the event with arts company Samesky.

More than 550 young pupils have taken part in arts workshops, making lanterns and torches for the parade.

The second part will feature Kent comedy duo Danny and Dan performing at the bandstand between 7pm and 7.30pm.

The festival has been organised by arts organisation Cohesion Plus, Kent Equality Cohesion Council and Dartford and Kent councils.

Organiser Gurvinder Sandher said: “The purpose is to celebrate the positive community relations in the borough, and to showcase the fantastic work being done by young people around the arts.”
