After opening their account in the Blue Square Bet Premier over the Bank Holiday weekend, Dartford now have successive home games in which to capitalise.

Tony Burman’s side, with six points on the board after wins over Kidderminster and Cambridge United, take on Alfreton Town on Saturday followed by a clash with early leaders Newport County at what should be a buzzing Princes Park on Tuesday night.

Burman (pictured) said: “The Newport match is the sort of big game that we want to be involved in.

“They are top of the table and are obviously keen to get back into the Football League but so are Cambridge United and we managed to win there.

“But we won’t treat Alfreton any different to the Newport game. We can enjoy the moment now after getting off the mark, but we mustn’t get carried away.”

That said, the Darts fans who travelled to Cambridge on Monday understandably found it difficult to contain their emotions after watching Nathan Collier snatch the winner two minutes from time against a United side who were unbeaten beforehand.

Burman added: “I thought we were a little bit fortunate with our goals but that said, I thought the guys deserved a lot more than zero points after our first three games and that’s the way it goes sometimes.

“I couldn’t have asked for any more from the weekend.

“It was important to get something from Saturday’s game (against Kidderminster) with such a big match coming up on the Monday and I thought we deserved the three points.”

Adam Green is doubtful for the weekend after coming off with a calf strain against Kidderminster.

However, the manager was able to report some reasonably good news in that goalkeeper Louis Wells’ injury isn’t as bad as first feared but he will be out for a few more weeks yet.

How many points can Dartford secure from their two home fixtures? Have your say below.
