Dog rescued from sinking in mud at Greenhithe

A dog trapped in mud and at risk of sinking was rescued by fire crews.

Firefighters from Dartford were called at 10.20pm last night to reports the dog was trapped and sinking in mud about 50 metres from the river bank at Greenhithe.

Helped by Kent Fire and Rescue's specialist water team, crews wearing dry suits and life jackets used a mud path - a portable rescue platform - to reach the stricken animal and bring it to safety just before 11pm.
