Double-death rail fire inquest starts

An inquest into the deaths of two men killed in a fire while building the Channel Tunnel Rail Link opened today (Monday).

Engine driver Douglas Lynch and railway shunter Darren Brown were killed after flames tore through a maintenance train inside the tunnel between Swanscombe and Essex in August 2005.

The jury of eight women and three men were sworn in for the inquest at Gravesend's Adult Education centre, in Darnley Road.
