Drivers cautioned after admitting they were unlicensed

Residents have been reminded to check their taxis after two drivers were cautioned by police.

The pair admitted they acted as unlicensed taxis following an inspection by police and Dartford’s Community Safety Unit (CSU).

They were told they could face further action if they come to the police’s attention again.

Part of the CSU’s work is to licence Hackney carriages and minicabs in Dartford.

Shopkeepers have been asked to remove advertisement cards from their windows following complaints from the public.

Cllr Dave Hammock, lead member for enforcement and licensing said: "We do all we can to ensure illegal unlicensed cabs are not operating in the Borough.

"Cab users should always remember to hire their cab from a reputable company and if they’re not happy – don’t get in and report it to the Police.
