Kent Police charge youngsters after house burglaries and car thefts in Dartford and Sevenoaks

Five people have been arrested after a series of car key burglaries in Dartford and Sevenoaks.

Three properties have been broken into and a BMW and two Mercedes have been reportedly stolen.

A car key burglary is when a person breaks into a property with the aim of removing the resident's car keys and stealing their vehicle.

Police are appealing for witnesses

Officers investigating the thefts stopped a car in Orpington on Sunday and charged four people with three counts of burglary.

A helicopter was heard hovering over the Gravesend area last night which is believed to be in connection with the search.

Two properties were burgled in Dartford between Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7.

A third property was subsequently burgled in Hartley between Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14.

A 16-year-old boy from Northfleet was one of the four people charged alongside Thomas Ripley, 20, of Star Lane in St Mary Cray; Jack Hever, 18, of Priorsford Avenue in Orpington and Shannon Kelynack, 18, of Leesons Hill in Orpington.

A 15-year-old girl also from Orpington has been released on bail pending further inquiries until Friday, September 30.

The three adults have all been remanded in custody to reappear before magistrates on Thursday, August 18.

The 16-year-old boy from Northfleet has been remanded in custody until tomorrow. (Tuesday).
