A fox has been rescued after getting his head stuck in a garden fence.

The RSPCA was called on Sunday morning after a member of the public found it trapped in their garden.

Officers visited the property in Sermon Drive, Swanley, where they rescued it and released it into the wild.

Kirten Ormerod, an inspector for the animal charity, responded to the incident and found the fox trapped between a post and a panel in the fence.

She said: “When I arrived he had been stuck for a couple of hours and was obviously very stressed, he tried to dig his way out.

“It looks like he miscalculated and got his head through the gap, but couldn’t get his body through.

“After putting a towel over his head to calm him down, I managed to lift him up over the top of the fence. After checking him over and monitoring him there were no signs of injury and he was behaving normally, so I released him in a neighbouring alleyway.

“I advised the owner of the garden to fill the gap in the fencing to stop it happening again.”
