Traffic gridlock on M25 after two crashes between Swanley and Orpington

Motorists have been suffering long delays in Kent this afternoon after two crashes on the M25 near Swanley.

Police said a van and lorry were involved in a minor smash between J4 for Orpington and J3 for the Swanley Interchange at the M20 at about 1.50pm.

A second crash involving a van and red car happened at the same spot soon after.

An air ambulance landed at the scene, but no one is thought to have been critically hurt.

One person is understood to have been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The crashes blocked the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25, causing long delays for drivers.

The vehicles were recovered and two lanes reopened at about 3.25pm.

Delays were expected to continue into the evening rush-hour as the congestion cleared.
