Thomas Rossiter murder trial starts today as Erasmus Ahwoi stands accused after alleged hit-and-run in Lynden Way

The trial of a man accused of murder after an alleged hit-and-run in Swanley is due to start.

Erasmus Ahwoi, 30, is alleged to have run over 42-year-old Thomas Rossiter in Lynden Way on July 4.

It is believed the two men had been in the same vehicle just prior to the incident in which Mr Rossiter was caught under the wheels of the hired car and dragged along for about 100 yards.

He suffered serious injuries and died soon afterwards in Darent Valley Hospital.

Ahwoi, of Stroud Green Gardens, Croydon, denies murder.

A jury was expected to be sworn in this morning, followed by prosecutor James Lofthouse opening the case.

Evidence will be heard from the first two witnesses at Maidstone Crown Court this afternoon.

The trial is expected to run into next week.
