Parents, children and teachers packed out Leigh Technology Academy asking for answers about proposals to turn a Longfield comprehensive into an academy.

Sponsors University of Kent, Kent County Council and Leigh Technology Academy outlined their vision for Axton Chase School in Longfield at a meeting in Green Street Green Road, last night.

Proposals are to transform the comprehensive school into a state-of-the art academy specialising in science and visual arts.

But parents and students are furious at the speed at which proposals have been put forward.
