The Kent Charity Awards gala evening has been postponed, probably until next year.

Organisers took the decision following the government’s advice on social gatherings during the coronavirus lockdown.

Those behind the awards will keep everyone up-to-date on any developments regarding the new deadline for entries and the date of the re-scheduled gala evening, which is likely to take place in March 2021.

Organisers have already received some entries and nominations this year and thanked everyone who had entered.

As the deadline for entries is now delayed, charities will be able to amend their entry at a later date, or submit a new one if needed.

There is also still time to nominate your favourite volunteer and trustee for a Kent Charity Award, which recognises the hard work of those who make the lives of others better.

Susan Robinson, head of judges and partner at sponsor Kreston Reeves, said: “The judges are disappointed that the awards are having to be deferred, but we are very mindful of the government’s recommendations and the difficult times charities find themselves in.

"Life for charities has always been a challenge but this is unprecedented.

"We wish them all the best for the coming months and hope to see many in the New Year.”
