POLICE are searching for a knife-wielding thief who threatened a female shop worker before making off with cash and cigarettes at a supermarket.

The man walked into the Co-op, in Hawley Road, Dartford, on Saturday, at about 7.45pm. He threatened the member of staff with a knife and demanded she hand over the money from the safe.

He escaped with the takings from the store and cigarettes in a shopping trolley before getting into a car waiting outside.

The robber is white, 25 to 35 years old, 5ft 7in tall and thin. He had straight, medium long hair and wore a black woollen hat, black fleece, black jogging trousers, white trainers and dark blue gloves. Part of his face was covered with a scarf.

Anyone with information which may help police with their inquiries, is asked to call 01322 283154 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.
