South Darenth's Oliver Hudd made headlines when he found a bomb, and now he's landed a whopping great fish

Published: 00:01, 12 April 2014

It’s obviously first time lucky for Oliver Hudd.

The seven-year-old made headlines last year when he found an 8lb First World War bomb in his grandmother’s garden on his first go with his metal detector.

Now he’s landed a 3lb bream on his first fishing trip with Dartford and District Angling and Preservation Society.

His father Jason, of East Hill, South Darenth, took Oliver and is sister, Josie, four, to the lakes at Sutton-at-Hone.

Nan Sheila, of Darenth Road, Dartford, said: “Oliver called out saying ‘I’ve caught one’ and by the time his dad turned around he had hooked the fish and hauled it up the bank.

He’s obviously following in the footsteps of his dad and grandfather, the late Bob Hudd.

"Jason was a junior champion by the time he was 10.”
