A lorry driver has gone on trial accused of killing a car driver on the Dartford Crossing while watching his mobile phone.

Viorel Sandulache, 26, was at the wheel of his lorry in November 2017 at 4.05 am.

The 21-year-old, from Langdon Hills, Basildon, Essex died from her injuries.

Sandulache, who works for Dartford-based UK Mail, had been travelling between Dartford and Birmingham.

He claimed he was listening to music when the accident happened.

The jury were shown footage of the moments before the accident taken from the Queen Elizabeth II bridge cameras.

He told police after the crash: "I was listening to music. I can't believe it."

He claimed that after the accident "no-one came to help"

Sandulache said he went to the Audi and "she was snoring".
