Lowfield Street, Dartford

It could be a case of third time lucky for Dartford as new proposals for the regeneration of Lowfield Street are unveiled today.

Plans have gone on display after more than a year of negotiations between Dartford Borough Council and Tesco's development arm.

Council leader Cllr Jeremy Kite believes the renewed plans will be granted with approval from residents

He said: "I think people will like these plans a lot. We've secured a number of victories with the developers and finally have something which is right for Dartford."

Changes include scaled-down housing proposals from 937 units to just 176.

An agreement also preserves the future of the threatened Glentworth Ex-Services Club with a new clubhouse earmarked for land next to the Dartford Harriers running track.

Residents are now being asked to give their views on the latest proposals.

If feedback is positive a planning application could be in front of council members next spring.
