Man taken to major trauma unit at Kings College Hospital after reports of an assault in Gilbert Close, Swanscombe

A man was taken to a major trauma unit after reports he was assaulted at a home in Swanscombe.

Police and air ambulance crews rushed to Gilbert Close in Swanscombe at 9.30pm yesterday following the alleged attack.

The victim was taken to King's College Hospital in London by ambulance with severe stomach and chest injuries.

The air ambulance was scrambled and treated the man at the scene. A doctor and paramedic took him to hospital by road as there are no landing facilities at night.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called at 9.30pm to a reported assault.

A 45-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attack and remains in police custody.

The spokeswoman said the victim was taken for treatment and later discharged.
