Thieves have staged a midnight jewellery heist at a Bluewater store.

The gang of four broke in to Fraser Hart, in Lower Thames Walk, at about 12.30am on Sunday, filling bags with high-value designer watches.

Wearing gloves and with their faces concealed with hoods they used crowbars to force the front shutters of the store.

It is thought they escaped thanks to a fifth gang member who was waiting in a dark-coloured Maserati sports car close to House of Fraser.

Detective Inspector Chris Collier, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "We know that there were still some people around at that time of night, visiting the cinema, and would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch."

If you have information which may help police with their inquiries, contact Det Insp Collier on 01474 366040 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
