A motorcyclist reportedly smashed a car's window and set fire to the passenger seat in an early morning arson attack.

A member of the public dialled 999 after witnessing the drive-by and a fire crew was quickly on the scene to extinguish the blaze.

The incident happened at around 6am behind Monarch Auto Repairs in Milton Road, Swanscombe.

Firefighters were called to a multi-car fire in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters left the scene just before 7am and a spokesman confirmed while the damage was limited to the front seats the Vauxhall was likely a write-off.

It comes a day after a car was torched in Thames Way, Northfleet.

Two crews were called to the scene at 5.30am and the blaze, which had gutted the vehicle, was quickly extinguished.

Police have been approached for further details about both incidents.
