Charlton are set to kick-off pre-season with their traditional curtain-raiser at Welling United’s Park View Road on Saturday afternoon.

Addicks boss Chris Powell (pictured) is set to field two different sides in either half against the Wings, with the club’s dozen summer signings all likely to feature in the game, which starts at 3pm.

Spaniards Mikel Alonso and former Real Mallorca youth player Ruben Bover Izquierdo, former Exeter centre-back Matt Taylor and ex-Arsenal youth-team skipper Cedric Evina are among the new faces.

They could feature against the Wings along with fellow new arrivals Paul Hayes, Dale Stephens, Danny Green, Bradley Pritchard, John Sullivan, Nick Pope and former Bournemouth pair Rhoys Wiggins and Danny Hollands.

Powell said: "I’m pleased (with what we’ve done in the transfer market) and I think that come Welling, the fans will be excited. They want to see the players in the red of Charlton. I’m looking forward to it, not just the pre-season but the season as well."

On Sunday the Charlton squad head to Spain for a week-long training camp where they will take on Bristol City on Tuesday and Cardiff City on Friday.

Once back in England, Charlton will continue their preparations with a trip to Aldershot on Wednesday, July 20, (7.45pm) and Woking on Saturday, July 23, (3pm).
