People are being caught out by a spoof website's claims that the cost of using the Dartford crossing is to go up to £10 each way.

Highways England confirmed today that there are no plans to increase the cost of crossing the Thames at Dartford.

SouthendnewsNetwork is a fake news website, which posted a story about crossings being made more expensive during peak time traffic to deter motorists.

While the site itself looks professional, its other "news" includes stories such as a couple’s dream home collapsing under the weight of take away leaflets, and a man who literally died from shock after a Southend United win.

The Dartford Messenger would encourage readers to stick with KentOnline for all the latest news, travel and weather for Kent.
