A senior care home worker who force-fed this 102-year-old resident has been told she will never work in nursing again.

Kate Ugochugwu was said to have abused her position of trust when she assaulted frail Henry Hobbins at Wilmington Manor Nursing Home.

The 59-year-old, who was the home's deputy manager and head of care at the time, ignored the distressed pensioner's protests and dismissed pleas from other staff to stop during the incident on August 11 last year.

Ugochugwu had denied force-feeding her elderly victim, insisting instead that he needed to eat something and she was making sure he did that.

But during a two-day trial she was found guilty of common assault, given a two-year conditional discharge and also told to pay £750 court costs.
