Pair injured after car in cliff plunge

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, following a dramatic cliff plunge in Swanscombe.

The car left London Road, near Craylands Lane in the early hours of Saturday morning, crashed through a fence and plummeted 40 feet before landing on its roof.

The two occupants were already out of the Nissan Micra when Thames-side fire crews arrived to help. A teenage girl was taken to Darent Valley hospital with head injuries which are not thought to be serious, and a 29-year-old man suffered a broken collarbone.

The man was released on police bail pending futher investigations until July 30.
