Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a report of a suspicious incident in Gravesend.

A woman, aged in her 50s, was walking along Thames Way close to the roundabout for Baltic Wharf, at around 9.30pm on Thursday February 28, when she was approached by a man who is reported to have grabbed her jacket.

The man is alleged to have tried to make the woman walk with him, but then ran from the scene after the driver of a vehicle stopped and intervened.

The man remains in police custody. Picture: Stock. (7616265)

The suspect is described as being white and possibly spoke with an Eastern European accent. He was wearing dark clothing with a hood which covered most of his face, but was said to have bushy eyebrows.

Officers are urging the driver in the car that stopped to get in touch, as well as any other witnesses who may have information.

If you can help please call Kent Police on 01474 366149, quoting 46/41854/19. Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
