Police chase in London Road, Swanscombe, leads to arrest

A driver who allegedly led police on a chase through a town has been arrested.

The 21-year-old, of no fixed address, was asked to stop by officers in London Road, Swanscombe, at around 5.30pm yesterday.

After reportedly failing to do so a police chase started and the vehicle was pursued for around a mile, where it eventually returned to London Road and was abandoned.

The driver fled the scene on foot and was chased by police.

He was soon caught and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, assaulting an emergency worker and possessing class B drugs.

He has since been released pending further inquiries.
