Officers and a helicopter are hunting two balaclava-clad motorcycle riders who escaped a police chase.

Patrols in Shepherds Lane, Dartford, noticed two people acting suspiciously with the bikes at around 12.35pm today.

Police requested the vehicles to stop but both failed to do so, leading to a pursuit.

The vehicle chase ended in Old Bexley Lane, Bexley, when the two individuals abandoned the bikes and ran off on foot.

Police spokesman Andy Saunders said: "A search for the suspects is ongoing and has been assisted by a police helicopter. Two motorcycles and crash helmets have been recovered from the scene."
