Charity boxes stolen from The Rising Sun Harvester, in Dartford Road, Dartford

A pub has had charity boxes, including one collecting money for a special needs group, stolen from its premises.

The box for the New Yorkers Club, a weekly club for people with special needs, went missing from The Rising Sun Harvester, in Dartford Road, Dartford, on Tuesday last week.

A collector for the New Yorkers Club posted on Facebook: “We had a charity box on the bar at the Harvester on Dartford Road.

The New Yorkers is a group for adults with learning disabilities

“Some scumbag broke into the Harvester last Tuesday in the early hours and stole this one, one for a children’s charity as well and nothing else.

“If you know any information please let Kent police know and get these low lifes locked up.”

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 3.42am on Wednesday, October 11 to a report of an alarm sounding at a business premises in Dartford Road.

“Officers attended and it was reported that a number of charity boxes were missing from the premises.

“Anyone with information can call the appeal line on 01474 366149 quoting reference 11-0105, or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
