A smash between two lorries on the QE2 bridge has prompted delays and long queues.

The accident, which happened shortly before 7am this morning, caused traffic to be held temporarily on the M25 clockwise in Dartford, with two lanes out of four shut on the A282 southbound.

Tailbacks which originally stretched back two miles as drivers are now easing. National Highways said drivers are now experiencing delays of around 10 minutes.

The congestion is expected to clear by 9.15am.

Essex Police, who deal with policing incidents on the bridge, have since confirmed there were no injuries.
