Snow flurries as wintry showers hit Kent

April showers turned wintry as snow flurries hit parts of Kent this afternoon.

It's unlikely they'll need to send the snowploughs out but Kent County Council's Highways department were impressed enough to tweet that brief snow showers were moving east across the county - reported first in Sevenoaks and then Dartford.

Among others with a confused weather eye on the sky was twitter user @therawrdrobe, who summed it up neatly "Snow? In April? In Kent? Eh?????"

The Met Office says temperatures could dip overnight - down to 2C in the early hours of the morning - but further snow showers are not forecast.
