Student denies doctor's murder

VICTIM: Dr Victoria Anyetei

A STUDENT denied murdering consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

David Quartey, of Humber Road, Dartford, will stand trial in a case expected to last up to four weeks on July 14 next year.

Wearing a grey sweatshirt, the 21-year-old spoke only to be identified. He was remanded in custody.

Dr Anyetei, 54, was stabbed in her silver Toyota Avensis outside her home in Teynham Road, Dartford, on August 14, as she set off for work at St Thomas's Hospital in central London.

The divorcee, who moved to England from Ghana in the mid-1990s, had lived in Dartford with her son, a 20-year-old university student, for eight years.
