Three teenagers have raised more than £1,000 for Darent Valley Hospital’s children’s ward.

Thamesview School pupils Elliot Long, 14, and Paddy Wood and Daniel Greenway, both 13, took part in a mini triathlon to buy new equipment and toys for Willow Ward.

Elliot and his sister Gabrielle, 16, have chronic health conditions and have both spent time there.

The goal was originally £200 but they have raised more than £1,000, and are still going.

Mum Anne Long said: “They were just amazing, very focused and determined, and they just got on with it. It’s sort of snowballed and I’m really proud of them. They’re now talking about doing something else but bigger.

“The children’s ward doesn’t just look after the children but also makes sure the parents are okay too. They have really helped me through some bad times.

“Hopefully the money will help to make children’s lives a bit better.”
