A crash involving three vehicles on the Dartford Crossing has been causing long delays for motorists.

It happened between J1A (Swanscombe) and J31 (West Thurrock) at 6.15pm and traffic did not return to normal until after 9pm.

Witnesses said police, fire engines and three ambulances were at the scene.

The east bore tunnel was initially closed and later reopened just before 7.30pm.
