WELLING boss Neil Smith must be fearing the worst after another horror show from his side at Fisher on New Year's Day.

The Wings threw away any chance of taking something from the game with more schoolboy defending and Smith's job is on the line more than ever.

The defeat to Fisher, who completed the double over Welling, made it eight league games without a win for the Wings who have collected just four points in that time.

Welling had the better of the first half but Ellis Remy's close-range effort was cleared off the line and Charles Ademeno drew a fine save from keeper Simon Overland.

Fisher took the lead on 65 minutes when one long ball caught John Wilfort napping and Wes Thomas raced through to score.

Welling replied two minutes later when Ellis Green nipped round at the far post to convert Robbie Ryan's cross.

Their joy was short-lived, however, as Thomas rounded keeper Jamie Turner to put Fisher 2-1 ahead on 69 minutes.

Welling then appeared to put the game beyond them when Ryan's dreadful free-kick gifted Fisher possession and Thomas took advantage to complete his hat-trick from close range.

Substitute Omari Coleman gave the Wings brief hope late on but it was a familiar sight for Welling fans, who again called for Smith to go at the final whistle.
