Dartford boss Tony Burman was a happy man after lifting the Ryman League Premier Division trophy in front of more than 2,000 fans at Princes Park on Saturday.

The Darts were presented with the trophy by Ryman League chairman Alan Turvey after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Aveley.

Burman, who mixes his role as Dartford manager and director with owning a transport company, felt the effort was all worthwhile after getting his hands on the silverware.

He said: "It’s been hard work and there has been a lot of effort put in.

"Sometimes you wonder how you find the time to be involved but you do and when you get moments like that, it makes you realise what it’s all about.

"You don’t forget days like that. A couple of years ago we won the Division 1 North title and the players then had a day that they wouldn’t forget. That will be the same for everyone on Saturday.

"It’s what we all aim for and the reception the players got from the crowd was fantastic. It was nice to get the trophy in front of such a big crowd."

Goals from Lee Burns, Lee Noble, Carl Rook and James White led the Darts to a 4-0 win at Waltham Abbey last Thursday before Billy Burgess and Rob Haworth netted against Aveley. Noble also netted in the 1-1 draw at Wealdstone on Tuesday.

Darts finish their campaign at Hendon tonight (Thursday) and Bognor on Saturday.

"We’re ready for a break – I’m not going to lie," said Burman "We just want to try and get over the 90 points mark now."
