Firefighters tackled a bathroom blaze in Dartford last night when a lit candle was left unattended.

Dartford crew members attended an address in St Alban's Road at 11.30pm when the candle caused nearby combustible items to catch fire.

A mum-of-three doused the flames using a bucket of water before rescuers arrived but the bathroom was smoke-logged as a result.

No injuries were reported. The candle was used because a light bulb wasn't working.

Watch manager Dave Read said the incident highlights the need to ensure candles are lit safely and not near flammable objects.

Police were also called to the incident.
